Mrs. Sneed had the cast on her wrist removed this past Thursday, and replaced with a wrist brace.  She has considerable pain and weakness in the wrist.

She has decided to return to work on Wednesday, so we will see how that works out.  I for one, wish she would just pack it in and retire, but it takes two to make that hope unanimous and 50% of the electorate disagrees.  So we will see what happens.

I think I have posted before about my dislike of palm trees, at least palm trees here in the desert.  Especially palms that are inappropriate for the space they occupy, like this one.

This tree is directly across the street and it is already too big for the space assigned to it.  Not to mention that it needs some TLC.

In beach locales, palms are a lovely sight to behold, swaying in the breeze.  In you neighbors yard, no so much.

Here in Hooterville they remain a popular choice because people think that they are hardy and low maintenance. The former is true, the latter not so much.

Over the weekend, some guys came and cut down a palm across the street just to our south.  I caught it in mid flop.

Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Those falling fronds can be lethal.

I have no opinion re: palm trees.

I was always afraid that Dr. M would get a teaching job at some podunk school in the middle of SC where there are lots of palm trees & sand & no beach. Palm trees without a beach are just like false advertising to me!

PS - tell Mrs. Sneed to take it easy on that wrist - except for whatever exercises her doctor has told her to do.

I actually really like palm trees. For what it's worth.

Looks like a big ole poof ball. I agree it is out of place.

Poor Mrs. Sneed. I hope her wrist is soon back to its standards of excellence!

When my sister lived in Florida, she talked about the maintenance issues with palm trees. She wasn't too frond of them.

Best wishes to Mrs. Sneed.

Dennis likes trees. The top one is too big and shouldn't be in a commercial area --but in a park or someplace.

Dennis hopes the nice lady's wrist get 100% well soon. Dennis says there's a lot to be said for loafing around and not hurrying back to work.
