We have finally hit the 100 degree mark last week.  The historical average for the first day of at least 100 degrees is May 26.  We held off until the 28th this year.  Ah, small pleasures.

As the days wind down toward Mrs. Sneed's retirement, she is subject to a daily campaign by her boss to change her mind.  He is really putting on the heat, so to speak.

The background is this.

Mrs. Sneed and her doctor-boss have worked as a team, treating sick kids in a specialty clinic for the past 16 years.  The lovely Mrs. Sneed is highly skilled at what she does and is not easily replaced.  Not to mention that she has dealt with many of the same families for years and years.

This past Sunday when we were grocery shopping, we met her boss in the store.  Literally, the second thing out of his mouth, after acknowledging that he and I haven't seen one another in years, was to tell me that I needed to convince her to keep on working.  As if.

Yesterday, he enlisted the aid of the family of a sick child and tricked her into hearing their plea for her to stay.   That seems like hitting below the belt.

Get this, according to a news article I read today, the geniuses in our Congress are crafting a plan to make it a crime to embed You Tube videos in places like websites and I suppose, blogs.  It is Senate bill 978.  I'm guessing another way to handle it would be to stop providing the embed code on You Tube.  But hey, that's just me.

Before they haul me off to jail, I give you Summer in the City, the Joe Cocker version.  I like it better than the Lovin' Spoonful one.

This was my favorite song in the summer of 1967 (or was it 1966?)

I hope my daughter, who just got her RN degree, will be as loved as the beautiful Mrs. Sneed. Fortunately there seems to be a need for nurses everywhere, which will only increase as the population ages.

What's behind that crazy bill, I wonder? Are they trying to stop the proliferation of porn, or is it a copyright issue?

Since I read blogs at work & youtube videos are blocked at work I guess it doesn't matter to me - but it seems to be stretching things. Don't they have other things to worry about?

Don't let Mrs. Sneed change her mind! Tell her to hold firm!

I remember that song from when I was 3.

I hope the lovely Mrs. Sneed sticks to her guns. She deserves to smell those roses you grow. If I've learned anything over the past few years, it's that there's a reason they say life is short. Because it is.

Well, I wouldn't want to lose the lovely Mrs. Sneed, either!
