These are our new laundry gizmos.  After a wait of newly a month, they were delivered last Thursday afternoon.

Bright and early Thursday morning I got to work taking everything out of the laundry room in preparation for the new stuff.  If you have ever moved a washing machine, you are familiar with the science experiment/landfill that takes root beneath a washer, even in the cleanest of homes.

I figured that since everything was out, I might as well paint.  After all, how long can it take to paint a small laundry room?

Trick question, the answer is too damn long.

The first thing you have to know is that I hate to paint.  Some people loved painting, but not me.  Painting is a job that I usually happily pay others to do.

The color Mrs. Sneed wanted for the laundry is called Hot Pepper.  I had some left over from when we paid actual painters to paint the inside of the house a few years ago.  Unfortunately, I didn't have enough to finish, so I had to go have more mixed.

I told the paint person at the hardware store that I wanted the best paint available, cost is no object.  I just want to paint it in one coat.

We all know the proverbial great lies; the check is in the mail, I'll respect you in the morning.  Add this third one, "This paint will cover in one coat".

One might think covering white walls with green would be a snap.  When I went back for my second gallon, the paint person told me that my combination, green over white, is one of the few that is hard to cover.  And she said it with a straight face.

But it is finished, more or less.

Your new laundry machines are lovely. We had front load machines at the house on Tennessee Avenue. I really miss that washing machine; here I have an old washer.

I hate the prep work for painting, and hate doing the edges, but I like getting the roller out and doing the easy part.

I like the new color. You will definitely not go to sleep in your laundry room. I too hate painting because I would much rather see the imperfection in what others do than in my own work. A really good painter is hard to come by.

I like how the paint matches your blog :)

I'm a little green myself about those machines. When we moved into our house we discovered that our regular size washer & dryer wouldn't fit in the space alloted. So we got an apartment size dryer. So for every load of clothes we wash we have two loads to dry. Sigh.
