Would it annoy or even offend you if a friend popped into your place of business to hit you up for one of his charities? It does me, but then lots of stuff annoys me, so I might not be the best barometer of annoying behavior.
Last Friday, Some Guy Named Bob showed up in the store to ask me for money for a fund-raising walk he is participating in. With SGNB and his causes, it is always something. SGNB proudly tells me from time to time that he gave to nearly 200 different groups last year.
Is it me or is that a bit pathological?
SGNB lurked around long enough for me to finish waiting on my customer and then matter-of-factly hit me up for some cash. Never once did it seem to occur to him that my place of business was not the time or place for fund-raising.
I play golf with SGNB every Thursday, so he has had ample opportunity to hit me up there, as he did the Seafood King a couple of weeks ago. I suspect that he I might say no in a casual setting and used my workplace as a barrier against rejection.
But maybe I give him too much credit for craftiness.
