Does anyone else find it off-putting that crowds of Americans are cheering and waving flags at the news of the killing of bin Laden?   It seems eerily similar to the crowds that took to the Arab streets to cheer the events of September 11th.

Maybe it is just me.

In other positive news, bin Laden's death pushed the equally dead pope and the silly British royals off the news.

Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

I do find it off-putting! I even mentioned it on my blog today too...

But, but, Kate's so pretty!

Yes, equally put off by the flag waving and partying. I was just reading about the fans at the Mets/Phillies game chanting "USA, USA" as word spread, as if we had just won a gold medal or something.

Yeah, I'm not a person of faith and I miss how that dead pope forgave the man who tried to kill him.

Yes, Merle, I too find all the cheering disconcerting...Killing anyone should never be a reason to cheer.

Two points are important. The first is that Bin Laden has many followers and admirers not necessarily involved in his terrorist cells but who will do heinous things nonetheless. We need to be vigilant. Secondly, how will his death impact the situation ongoing in the middle east for us and our allies?

America is not the only country to experience terror, as France and England have both seen.

It will take dedication and the efforts of all of us to rid the world of terrorists.

Someone needs to do a study of bin Laden's life to see just why and how he went from a life of privalege to becoming a renowned terrorist. Perhaps then we can take steps to stop that process.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I missed the entire thing. Didn't learn about it until this afternoon. How can that possibly happen in this era of connectedness.

See, it's not just you. Jubilation I feel, needs to be tempered with some caution. It ain't over in the terrorist game by a long stroke of the whip. If you get my drift....

After The Simpsons made fun of it, chanting "U S A" always seems silly.

I recently ran across a book by Tolstoy speaking of the christian faith and hypocrisy - back then - and it was interesting enough that once it's in pdf form I'll have to print a copy, 'cause I can't find this particular book anywhere -

Since the media tends to point out the silliness of others, lately seems this country isn't any different ; (

Hope all is (s)well in the Sneed family abode ; ) = Cheers!

Awww ... I like the royals. At last there's a happily married couple in that family!

And, no you're not the only one. Nope.
