Is it wrong to be just slightly satisfied that someone got what they had coming?   That liar was exposed, that cheat caught in the act, that pompous, self-serving, bloviating former vice-president turns out to be a sex pervert...no wait, that last part is unsubstantiated allegations.

Okay forget the bloviator until we have more information.  But the liars and cheaters for sure.  They get caught and it is hard not to be just a bit glad.  Am I right on that?

But, what about a guy who gets up every day and makes a public nuisance of himself?  I mean if his main occupation in life is being a petty criminal.  He goes about bothering good folks who are just trying to make ends meet?  Would it be wrong to be just a tad satisfied if he got  himself, say, oh I don't know,  maybe killed during one of his antics?

Would that make you (me)  a bad person, what with the sanctity of life and all?

Here in Hooterville we have something called the beer run.  That is where one or more common criminals, generally youthful types, go into a store and grab a bunch of beer and run out, without paying.  Hence, the term, beer run.

Yesterday morning, three of these youthful types, along with a guy who was old enough to know better, pulled off a beer run at a local convenience store.  In the process of making their getaway, the 37-year-old driver, aka, the guy who should have been old enough to know better, crashed the getaway vehicle and got himself killed.

Proving that there is no honor among thieves, the other three participants ran away from the scene of the wreck, leaving the driver not merely dead, but really most sincerely dead, to quote a famous Munchkin coroner.

My reaction was the aforementioned sense of justice served.

It would be hard to be so cavalier if I had any real connection to a story like this.  After all,  everyone, no matter how despicable or useless they might seem or act, is someone's child, husband or parent.  Every person's death is tragic for someone, somewhere.

So, I'm sorry for a parent, a spouse or a child affected by this event.  For the dead guy, not so much.

Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Doesn't sound like a great loss to society, but I am sorry for his family (if they were still talking to the dead guy).

What goes around, comes around. It's not wrong to applaud justice.

Justice, thy name is karma. I often enjoy reading about some low-life getting his "just deserts", but on this one, i think death might be a bit of an over-payment for stealing beer. Now if the beer container broke and ruined his car or laptop... that I can enjoy!
