I built this little fountain over the past few days.  We were given these pots by our daughter, some time ago.

The pots are strictly ornamental and are made for indoor use.  I waterproofed them and sealed the top so that water cannot get inside them.

I buried a five gallon bucket under the pots to provide the water basin.  There is a submersible pump inside the bucket that feeds water to the top of the large pot via a pipe I ran inside it.  Water overflows and is returned to the bucket.

It probably cost about $125 to build, including $60 for the pump.

From the files of "You can't make this shit up", comes the following.

I saw the dad from the Great Wall of Our Street yesterday.  He is in town for a few days.

I noticed that he was loading up his car with stuff and leaving, only to return a few mminutes later, car now empty.  Then he would load it again and off he would go.

I walked over to see what was up and he told me that his son, the guy who  had to have the giant wall, had moved to another state, to take job.

He evidently called the parents, and boogied, leaving his folks to figure out what to do with his car, his dog and the house.

The dad flew cross-country and is driving dog and car back to the large American city where they live.

It appears that we will have a giant wall and an empty house across the street.  For a while, anyway.

Given the son's work history and his total dependence upon his folks, he will likely be back sooner rather than later.

I'm really impressed that you were able to build that fountain. Those things cost a lot ready-made and are never this artistic.

You can only hope the house with the giant wall will be sold and the new owner will take down the wall. I knew that kid was up to no good in there behind the big wall. What was he thinking leaving the dog behind???

I agree with Barbara & Reya - poor dog!

LOVE the fountain! I'll have to see if I can get Dr. M to build me one :)
