This is our new front yard looking in from the street. You might catch a glimpse of the lovely Mrs. Sneed through the gate opening.

Our new wrought iron gate is allegedly being built as we speak and should be installed in the next week. Emphasis on allegedly.

Alas, not everyone has the grace and style of the Sneeds.

From the Websters dictionary.

Monstrosity - noun; a : an object of great and often frightening size, force, or complexity b : an excessively bad or shocking example.

The house across the street and one to the north, is owned by a couple who lives in a major American city on the East Coast. It is occupied by their adult son full-time, and by one or both of them from time to time, maybe 6 to 8 times a year.

On a recent trip out here, they remarked about our new courtyard and asked for the mason's card. The husband told me that they wanted to build a wall in the front of their house, too.

Well, the wall is going up and it is causing quite a stir in the neighborhood, because it is a M-O-N-S-T-R-O-I-T-Y. The thing is over six feet tall and is a monolith. Not to mention that it sits on the property line, making it seem even bigger. All it lacks is an adjacent on ramp. Even I want to tag it just to get even.

The neighbors to the north of the wall, say that their view out the front window is now completely blocked by the thing.

I can't believe that the absentee owners have any idea how butt-ugly their wall is, and by the time they figure it out, it will be too late to fix it.

Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Your front courtyard came out great, Merle. Now it's time to go tag the neighbors ugly wall...

Your place is looking quite nice.

Maybe they're hoping to keep the illegals out? ; (

Gorgeous! Both the yard and the babe in the front;-)

Maybe they got a deal on their monstrosity. That's the only reason I can figure someone would put something like that up.

I wonder how much taller it will get? It doesn't have any style at all - not sure why they needed to get a good mason just to do that!

Maybe you should hire a dump-truck driver to back into it? What a horrible use of all those concrete blocks...

But your place looks quite nice and very southwestern.

I love your chic courtyard; Mrs. Sneed's presence lends an added sophistication.

We must love our neighbors as ourselves. I believe I've heard that somewhere before . . .

Your front yard looks lovely. Which is more than I can say about those stylish and imaginative people from that Other Place.

your neighbors property looks more like a business than a home.

I wonder if they're aware how big that wall is compared to others in the neighborhood? If they're not in town now, they may be unpleasantly surprised when they return.
