Some things you just can't make up.

I went to Costco this afternoon. While I was waiting, blinker on, for a van to back out so that I could take their parking space, I noticed a red Prius turn into my lane and begin driving toward where I was stopped. Just as things cleared for me to pull into the space, the Prius's driver gunned it and careened into my space at a 45 degree angle, cutting me off.

Had I not immediately recognized the driver I might have made a scene. No wait, that is the old Merle Wayne.

The driver was none other than Some Guy Named Bob, totally oblivious as usual. He got out and hustled off to the store. I went around and found another parking spot.

I got a photo of his sideways parking job, but I used my phone camera and I can't figure out how to send it to my email. The fine folks a T-Mobile say the file is too big.

It is a tiny Prius and Some Guy Named Bob is five feet tall, max. How can it be too big?

So use your imagination. Imagine Mr. Magoo driving this car into a parking space more or less sideways. You get the idea.

As I've said many times, in many ways, the man is a menace.

Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Liam and I have a theory about Prius drivers. It's pretty much unprintable.

We do always imagine the worst when something like that happens. At least I imagine malice and greed on the part of the person "stealing" my parking spot.

But probably the truth is that most folks just aren't paying attention. They're on the phone or listening to the radio or engrossed in their own thoughts.

Your diplomacy was great, Merle. I salute you.

Careful Megan - my dad has a Prius :) But he's probably not the kind of person your theory is about - almost 70 ex-UPS driver.

SGNB IS a menace! Did you confront him? I totally would. Heh.

Isn't he the shirt-hoarder? I guess Costco was calling loudly.

Are you going to ask him about this incident or is it worth it?

BTW, I'm a nice Prius driver, Megan...

Bob wanted you to deflate his tires and key his car.

I'm one of those people who parks way far out in the lot, no matter how much crap I have to drag back to my car. I
My best friend circles and circles until she finds a spot as close as possible to the door. It drives me insane, --and if I'm driving I have to deposit her at the door and pick her up there afterwards! She is someone who'd steal your spot, Merle, but I would never steal your spot.

Uh oh. Let me rephrase that to "Los Angeles County Prius Drivers!"
