Climate is what you expect, weather is what you get.--Robert A. Heinlein

It was 48 degrees at 6:00 am today here in Hooterville. Not a record, that was 36 degrees in 1899, but cold enough to be notable.

In fact our low this morning was 8 degrees below normal, or as I would say if I was writing a news headline, 14% below normal.

You can't judge a climate by a single observation, but it is a refreshing development.

It has also been windy for the last month.  That unfortunately is too predictable and unwelcome.  At least by me.  Merle Wayne Sneed is no fan of the wind.

We planted two of these little palms.  They are commonly called Pygmy or Miniature Date Palms.  They do well in hot climates and in the full sun.   Perfect for Hooterville.

I looked out the front window this morning and saw a strange car parked in front of the house.  Unusual because you can't legally park in front of the house.  It is too close to the intersection.

It was our wrought iron guy.  He was rechecking some measurements.  He calls his business XXX Wrought Iron Designs, but Eventual Wrought Iron Designs would be more apt.  He has been dinking around for over a month and so far he hasn't done much.

He said he didn't have time to chat with me this morning because he had an appointment to play Frisbee at 6:45.

You have to admire a guy who doesn't let work get in the way of life.  Or at least you have to when he is working on someone else's gate.  Mine, not so much.

Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Dennis loves watching humans play frisbee.

All that wind down in Hooterville blew a bunch of dirt up toward Colorado and yesterday it rained mud, so I don't like your wind either....

How annoying! Is measuring (again I'm assuming) a good sign though? Or is it just another diversionary tactic?

Hmmmm....someone needs to light a fire under that guy. The colder weather would probably only make him slower!

I had a brother-in-law like that once. Said he didn't want to work too much because he didn't want to pay more taxes.

Wind can make golf interesting sometimes. I would gladly trade weather with you. It was 92 degrees in Metro DC today.

Don't get me started on workers who don't finish when they say they will.

XXX Wrought Iron Designs???

That does not create positive images in my mind.

I happen to like wind, but maybe your wind is dustier than ours.
