I saw an actual headline on a news website that asked, "Is Nature Out of Control?" It headlined a story about the earthquakes in Haiti, Japan and most recently, Chile.

Nature out of control? Ya think?  Out of the control of whom.  Not us for sure.

We might tinker with the edges of nature; clear some forest, control our own little environments, fool a plant here or there into adapting to our needs. It is all temporary and in the end futile. Nature will do what it does and part of that is laying waste to our best laid plans from time to time.

All the gods of all the people seem unable or disinclined to control nature, so what makes us think we can? Stop the earth from shaking or keep it from raining, good luck with that.

The grand plan for was for our new wall to be painted tomorrow.  They cannot start to lay the pavers until the wall gets painted.  Unfortunately, it rained all night, last night, and shows no sign of letting up so far today.  Tomorrow may be another wash out for our workers.

You might notice the bit of blue showing through the opening in the wall in the photo.  That is a tarp I threw over a hole I dug.  One of the new pipes I laid for the irrigation is leaking and needs to be fixed.  I need it to stop raining first.  Otherwise, I will be another roadblock in finishing this project.

Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Tarps are good to have.

We could use a wall around our place.

I guess if you could control the weather, you would so you could get your project done.

Mankind is so insignificant in the scheme of things. We can continue to pollute the earth, drop our bombs, and build higher and higher skyscrapers. But we must bow to nature's whim as the earth shakes and we feel so totally powerless. It's a hard lesson for those affected, but one that no one should lose sight of.

Great progress on the wall. Can't wait to see the finished product.

But the rain must be wonderful!

"Nature under control" -- now THAT would be a headline, wouldn't it?

Humans vs. Mother Nature ... hmmm ... Ma Nature wins every time. Always.

Nature out of control? Is that said or funny?

Nature is and always will be amazing. Humans often seem to want "the next season", and not the one they are in at the moment. Some humans never want rain! Having been through a number of earthquakes--it's no fun, but it happens and you have to accept it because nature ... is.
