Here in Hooterville it is the calm before the storm. Literally. Our weather people are positively beside themselves over an approaching storm. It is supposed to rain, either yesterday, today or tomorrow. Since it rained neither yesterday or today, tomorrow looks to be a bad one. Along with rain and possibly snow, we are expecting it to rain both frogs and blood. If you have ever been hit with a bloody, frozen frog, you know how bad it can be. I'm preparing for the blast of cold, bloody amphibians by getting out a jacket and finding some socks. Here's something from the Christmas front. I would never want to be labeled a cynic or an old grouch, but has anyone else noticed that every year Christmas toy drives claim that they are running way, way behind as we get near the holiday? Then, just when all hope seems lost, they pull things out and reach their goal. I don't mind giving to those in need, but I feel bit manipulated. And lastly. Noah, my little buddy, is here with us tonight, as he was last night. His daddy, Mr. P. has gotten himself hospitalized. He was stricken with a kidney stone attack last night and is waiting for it to be removed tomorrow. I don't know about you, but I don't wnat anything containing the word stone invading my body. Yikes! Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

I have to call HUD all the time, and every time I call the recording says, "We are experiencing a higher than normal call volume." I'm beginning to wonder if they should rethink what they call "normal" as far as call volume goes.

Good luck to Mr. P with the stones. Don't ever want to have one of those, either.

Get well soon Noah's pop, and remember to get plenty of rest and whatever.

they talked a big storm here, and when nothing happened the weatherlady actually said "We did get the snowfall and rainfall amounts we predicted, so our predictions were right on target."

she must have meant that SOMEWHERE her prediction came true. Just not around here.

Kidney stones are terribly painful, but fortunately it's a condition that medical professionals are used to dealing with, so Noah's dad should be up and running asap. Thank God.

Sending healing energy in the direction of all Sneeds. Y'all have more than your share of episodes, seems to me.

And yes I feel manipulated by all charities. That's what fundraising is all about, Merle!

Good luck on all fronts! A friend just had a bout with a kidney stone. Not fun.

Why do you hate toy drives and children?

Kiss one of them frogs and just see what happens. I dare ya.

Best wishes for Noah's dad. My dad had one of those removed. He kept it in a jar on the mantle and bragged about the mammoth size of it to anyone who would listen. Since it disappeared, he now complains with a knowing glance in my direction that someone threw it out.

They are still bleating about the storm here. And it's already over.

I *have* noticed that about toy drives. Hmmm...

As for the stone, yikes! I'm with you. Keep 'em away from me...

I've heard a woman I work with compare kidney stones to the birth of her children. The stones were worse she said.

I've noticed too re: the various drives...toy, food, and others.
