Show Me The Money

In just a few minutes I will be off to the hardware store. Saturday is a very busy day and I will be making an important contribution to our success. George W. Bush, stimulus check tease, still has me high and dry. No moolah yet. I'm amazed how the stores are lining up to get their grubby mitts on the dough. Some are offering bonuses. Many of the grocery stores are offering a ten percent bump in the value if you buy a gift card from them. That's not a bad way to spend the money. My favorite promotion is from the weasels at Best Buy. They are not offering any extra money if you buy from them, but they claim they will have staff available to help shoppers find items to purchase with their checks. I'm not kidding, that's what their PR person actually said. How can you resist that? Lastly, here in our fair city, Wayne Charles Phifer has been arrested and charged with killing his 61-year-old mother. Need I say more? Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Exactly how did he kill his mother? He got caught, so I'm assuming he killed her in the house... I'm thinking about a camping trip with my mother, but how to convince her she will enjoy a camping trip?

Squirrel, tell her it's an upscale wine-tasting camping trip.

Are you saying gift cards are an OK way to spend a Stimulus check? Just don't buy a gift card from a company about to fold. And saving 10% isn't the same as saving for a rainy day.

These gift cheques... it seems to me they are special, no? why would you spend them to buy les necessities such as les pillowshams, chemises, heads of the lettuce, bottles of wine. Surely one doesn't need le special cheque to buy bread and cheese! If I would get such a windfall, I think I would put it aside for another time.

My cousin is about to marry a man named Austin Wayne. Should I warn her?

Squirrel, he killed her in the house and fled to California where he was apprehended. Details about the manner of the murder have not been released. Good luck with your mom.

Mrs. Wollstonecraft, I am saying that if you are going to spend the money, getting an extra ten percent isn't bad. We at the Sneed blog advise paying off dbt or saving the cash.

Professor, to some people this is special money. To others it will get them through a few weeks of groceries.

Julia, if Wayne is his last name, I think you are okay. If his name is Austin Wayne Smith, look out.

Gosh, I wonder how many guys will go to Atlantic City or Vegas with the extra $$.

Dennis wonders why we're still discussing this check he will never get.
