Scheduling My Life

This is my neighbor's desert willow tree. Our recent temperatures in the mid twenties has caused a total leaf drop. Some of our native trees don't lose their leaves in winter if it doesn't get too cold.

I'm really feeling a crunch time-wise at the moment. That might seem odd for a semi-retired guy, but that's my situation.

Specifically, Thursdays have suddenly become unmanageable for me. A few days ago my only time issue on Thursday was when our golf tee time was. Now, I have this hardware job from 2 pm until 6 pm on Thursdays. The Seafood King announced at bowling the other night that we would just start golf early enough to allow me to get to the store by two.

That would have worked had the gardening center folks not decided that Thursday morning was our work time at the demonstration gardens. So now I'm expected to be there on Thursdays from eight until eleven in the morning. This means that Thursday golf is kaput. I personally don't care, but the boys will be nagging at me about this development.

Since part of the agreement for getting the master gardener training was to work a certain number of hours at the gardens, that is the first priority for Thursday morning. I didn't fully get this because our training was on Tuesday. They did mention that some groups worked on Thursdays, but no one said it was mandatory.

Since the only real conflict is between golf and gardening it seems to me that the only solution is to try and get the Seafood King and Some Guy Named Bob to change days.

I hate it when I feel like several things are pulling at me. Even when I caused it.

Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Dennis feels sad that you cannot golf with your friends. Dennis asks, can you golf on another day?
Dennis wonders how long this master gardening stuff will be mandatory.

That's not even a desert wilbur tree! You lie! I can't believe I wasted my time reading this post! Get your facts straight!

You're retired, so I say friends first, then the part-time job.

You can weed and water the demonstration gardens on other days besides Thursday, they should be flexible, especially if you team up with others who wish to go another day. Make sure you golf on some Thursday mornings, anyway. Maybe Ace will need you on Mondays instead of Thursdays. Don't be shy about asking for changes.

This is YOUR time.
