Me

I have been thinking about myself a lot today. Without getting into the motivation for this post, I am going to tell you some things you may or may not know about me and some things I believe to be true. In no particular order-- I don't really care too much what anyone else thinks about me. I'm not much for causes. I am pretty much who I seem to be, for better or worse. I am above the 95% percentile in height for Caucasian American males of my age. I have been over six feet tall since I was 12. I don't expect people to make accommodations for me, but I appreciate it if they do. I'm not a joiner. I have never used an illegal drug. I'm not too good at offering praise to others, although I have shown some improvement. I don't take myself too seriously. I am sort of clumsy. I try never to do something so that someone will think well of me. I explain myself too much. If I've offended you, it wasn't intentional. There is something wrong with my sense of taste. Lots of things taste bad to me. They always have. Criticizing me, won't make things taste better. I can't stand the taste of alcohol. Balloons make me nervous. I don't hate anyone. I like most people. Lots of things annoy me, but not as much as I let on. Every situation can be improved with a little humor. I think I'm a funny guy. I'm a creature of habit I don't like it when people take advantage of other people. I always try to do my best. I don't kill anything, including bugs. I have an opinion on most everything and you are perfectly welcome to disagree or to ignore it. No hard feelings. I believe what can be tested. I'm not interested in working just to have more stuff. I've never bounced a check or been late paying a bill. I don't like change. I am sort of a hick. I'm not afraid to die, but I'd prefer not to. I don't care who gets elected. I'm more perspirational than inspirational. I respect your right to do what you do. Just don't expect me to tell you it is a good idea if I disagree. Don't ask my advice if you are going to ignore it anyway. I like things to be tidy. I am a worrier. I fidget. Telling me to stop won't work. I don't mind getting older. I want my children and their families to be happy and healthy, I don't expect them to be like me. I love stories. I like to know about other people. I believe that most self-help is crap. I believe in doing what I said I would do. I try to be a more civil as I get older. My head is large. I'm against the death penalty. I don't like my eyebrows. I try to be considerate and helpful. I realize I can come off as overbearing. I don't mean to. I like to keep track of my money. Think of it as a hobby I'm a lot more moderate than I used to be. I swear less than I used to, but still too much. I try to control things that I can't. The fact that you keep doing the same stupid thing, doesn't mean I have to keeping helping. To quote Popeye the Sailor Man, "I y'am what I y'am." Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky Tag:

Sounds good to me! Feel sorry for your mom since you have such a big head.

What a great list!! WOW!!

Balloons make me nervous, too.

This is a fantastic post. Thank you.

I liked your list a lot, it got me thinking how we should respect ourselves more and be who we are.

Sounds like my list, except for the fidgety six foot ilegal drug part. --and my small brain had no room for a worry center. meow.

You are totally wrong about balloons, Merle. They are completely safe. You should not be nervous around balloons. And you just THINK things taste bad because you haven't trained your palette. And I can't believe you're an advocate of strict sentences for casual drug users (I assume)!

I dont believe you have 100 things here, maybe you try to get at least 50!

We are nearly identical Merle! Except for the height and the drug part. A sure cure for balloon anxiety-- always carry a hatpin. After awhile they won't come around you no more.

I like balloons--and those spinny pin wheel things too

Great post!

"I don't like my eyebrows."

This cracked me up. I guess because I don't like mine either and I've never ever heard anyone say that before. So what, I lead a sheltered life.

Thanks for rounding out the portrait, Merle! You still sound like a swell guy. :)

(I liked the "don't kill bugs" part!)
