We did not get a single kid at our door last evening. That is a new low and unless some kid sneaks up and leaves US candy next year, it will remain the record.
The demographics of our neighborhood makes for scant crowds of ghouls and goblins anyway, but trick-or-treating door-to-door seems just a dying tradition. Too bad.

They were all at OUR house :) One thing I really like about our little town is that trick-or-treating is a big deal. We give out loads of candy (Dr. M & I dressed up as pirates) & all the parents say, "What do you say?" "THANK YOU!" Restores my faith in human kind.
In our hood, the kids Trick Or Treat in the afternoon at all the nearby businesses. There are hundreds of kids out, and some came into the barbershop while I was getting my hair cut. We had to travel to a nearby town last night to see trick or treating done as it was in my day.
We got one! Most we've had in years. It was all very exciting.
I think trick-or-treating happens in controlled environments now, like community parties or schools. Not many people go door-to-door, which is too bad.
I haven't had a trick-or-treater in years and years. In Manhattan I guess that's understandable, and people don't do Halloween as much in London..but even when I lived in Florida it was a waning tradition.
