I was out early making snow angels. The likelihood of a particular weather event actually occurring is inversely proportional (Ka = pH α 1/ Ka) to the level of hysteria among the television weather people--Merle Wayne Sneed's First Law of Weather Prediction. There was snow in a lot of places in Southern Arizona overnight, just not any to speak of in Hooterville. Snow is not uncommon in the Southern part of our state because despite what you would think, most of the area is over 3000 feet in elevation. Most people don't think of the desert Southwest as a high locale, but it is. Arizona is more mountainous in terrain than flat. Most people wouldn't guess that that Tombstone, AZ is located at 4540 feet above sea level or that Bisbee, AZ, the famous mining town, is higher in elevation than Denver, the Mile High City. In the Northern part of the state, Flagstaff on the old Route 66, now I-40, is over 7000 feet. It is only the Central and Western parts of Arizona that are low desert. Phoenix is about 1000 feet in elevation and when you go to the Western part of the state, Yuma is near sea level. I guess I have to put away my sled and go to work today. I just called and the hardware store is going to be open. Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Careful there, Merle. Wouldn't want to get road rash while making your snow angel...

I didn't have a clue. I always learn something when I visit this place.

Did anyone have to help you up?
