We went to Daughter Sneed's house for Thanksgiving.
We released 13 green balloon for Christian. Daughter Sneed is releasing one in the picture. It was a torrential downpour, so we had to lean over the rail and duck back quickly.
Despite the rain, they quickly rose and drifted to the south.
Daughter Sneed has a case of the "Martha Stewart's" and always goes all out for the holidays.
Like most places, the day after Thanksgiving was shopping mayhem in Hooterville. Mrs. Sneed and I stayed out way too late Thanksgiving night and when we headed home after midnight, the lunatics were sitting outside Circuit City in the rain. The local newscast said that some lined up at Best Buy on Wednesday.
They could be offering handshakes with the maker of heaven and earth and I wouldn't wait all night in the rain to get one, much less wait for a computer or a TV. Idiots.
On a personal note, we had an opportunity to get a little bonus if our store exceeded a weekend sales total set by the owners. The old 'Snowball's Chance in Hell', bonus. Hell is winning.
In the hardware store, the Friday shopping crowd was less than hoped for. We did two average day's business yesterday, but unfortunately one of them was today's sales. Business in the store was abysmal today, at least when I left at noon.
I suspect that any bump in retail sales that happened yesterday, will be tempered by a worse than average shopping season. And Kip and Wendy of the nightly news won't let us forget it.
Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

nothing wrong with a case of martha! you go daughter sneed!! keep those family fetes flowing!!
it sounds like a lovely gathering....and rain in the desert was a sweet dessert, was it not.
I can't imagine shopping the day after thanksgiving, but then again, I don't like shopping any day. but I do really like going into a hardware store and wandering around. and who can resist a nice set of bits, a double box wrench or gallon of paint to put a new color on a room which has been neglected!
That's not a centerpiece, that's a work of art!
All the parking lots I've passed in the last two days have been full to overflowing. So we shall see...
Nice that you got rain though ... I'm sure you heard about the murderous crowd at the Long island Walmart. Consumerism Kills.
We've been far from the 'Madding Crowds' these last few days, staying on the hiking trails and only going into the village to return library books. I added to my trail posts with some pics I took this morning.
It was a mild day... but
it might snow tonight (rain definite, snow/sleet maybe)
"a case of the martha stewarts" you're too funny!
Nice to remember a loved one with the balloons.
Ghastly to be one of the throng....although we never do those things either and stay away from crowds, we did venture into Ft Wayne for some art supplies and bagels which both happen to be in a large mall.
We couldn't believe it, and perhaps it's the midwest, but we actually parked right near the bagel shop and walked through the mall to the other store only passing one or 2 people.
People losing jobs, unsure of jobs may be what made this year look like a ghost town out here.
Hope you get some kind of bonus, as it sounds like you deserve something extra ; )
Daughter Sneed sets a lovely table.
I never cease to be amazed at what people can be convinced to do to save a buck....or spend a buck. Crazy is right.
Life is good at the Sneeds.
Martha Stewart looks pretty good translated by Daughter Sneed!
Speaking of malls, our local news anchors also had some handy tips for avoiding pickpockets and purse snatchers. another reason to avoid that crush of humanity otherwise known as Christmas shopping.
I'm glad you stayed out too late with your family. Celebrating with people you love is always a Very Good Thing.
Did you read about the Walmart employee who was crushed by shoppers rushing into the store?
Honestly I don't get it. Like you, I wouldn't wait in line all night for anything. For heaven's sake.
Everyone in your family has such great hair. Daughter Sneed? I salute you!
I read a story in the paper about people who lined up on Tuesday night to go shopping Friday morning. So they spent Thanksgiving on a sidewalk in front of Best Buy. That's just pathetic.
Sounds like a lovely day. My thoughts are with you and yours lately for Christian and whatever happened there. It is a sadness I can only imagine and do not like to imagine.
