Mark Twain

"A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval."--Mark Twain Our predicted hotter and drier than normal winter continues to be wetter and cooler. It is raining today and is expected to continue to do so throughout the day. I have to work all day, so the weather is not going to bother me. I went out with The Seafood King and Some Guy Named Bob to play golf yesterday. The aforementioned storm was just building so it was cool and windy. My golf game was slightly worse than average and I blame it on the weather. Next week I will have to think up a new excuse. Don't worry, I have a hundred tried and true. I also had to attend a meeting yesterday in the late afternoon. It was one of those things you occasionally have to do that doesn't really provide much in the way of benefit. I sat next to a fellow that I don't know well, but am casually acquainted with. He has always struck me as a guy working way too hard to impress the people he meets. Of course, impressing others is really secondary, what I guess he is really doing is trying to reassure himself that he is okay. Do you know what I mean? For instance, yesterday's meeting was a small group of a dozen or so folks. We sat at a horseshoe-shaped table in a small room, with the presenter at the open end of the horseshoe. When the presenter would make a point, this fellow would blurt out pointless bits of information that didn't add anything, but were supposed to impress, I guess. For instance, when the presenter put up a chart, which included a quote from Mark Twain, this fellow blurted out "Samuel Clemens". He carries photos of his cars and other man toys, that he shows around like I might show photos of the Sneedlets. It just seems odd...and annoying. But that says more about me than him, I suppose. Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

Ugh... guys who carry photos of their cars in their wallets. Sat next to one on a plane--he had photos of his vintage car collection in his wallet Luckily it was only 4 or 5 cars. ZZZZzzzzz slept most of that flight.

Check out my ice pics today. Once or twice each winter we get ice like this and few people bother to prepare by buying 1 lousy bag of sand (to make a safe walkway) I always keep bags of sand in the garage. How difficult is it to buy 2 bags of sand on a summer day thinking ahead to when you may need it? Not difficult at all.

Does ACE sell sand? If so, what are the varieties available?

You might have added "Samuel L. Clemens."

Why on earth would anyone carry a photo of a car? That would be like carrying a photo of a lawn mower, or a coffee maker, or a smoke alarm. People are strange.

It would have been funny if someone HAD blurted Samuel L. Clemens after he blurted Samuel Clemens, and if a third person had immediately screamed Samuel LANGHORNE Clemens! now that would have been a meeting !
