Thursday

I was at the garden center early this morning. We started at eight and I was there minute or two before. The garden center is located next to one of our mostly dry rivers. At the moment it happens to have running water due to recent rains, but that's another story. This also is a low spot in our city and as such the cold air collects there. It was about thirty-five degrees when we started our pruning and wearing canvas shoes turned out to be a mistake. My toes were very cold. This rose pruning is taking much longer than I expected it would. We are only half finished and the commander-and-chief is calling for two pruning days next week. After that, the ends of the pruned canes will have to be sealed with glue to prevent Cane Borers and the bushes will have to be fertilized. Sounds like fun. I was eating lunch in a fast food place after pruning and I had the misfortune of sitting in the booth next to one of these loud, dysfunctional families, where drama is a family activity. The mother, a loud chemically-induced blond, was holding court about some guy that she is at odds with. At one point she related how "Roselle" told her to not waste her time worrying about him. She confidently told her audience that she never worries about him. I was tempted to ask her if she doesn't worrying about him, why the heck do I have to listen to her loud yap at lunch? But since she was real scary, I didn't. Today was golf day too. I met The Seafood King and Some Guy Named Bob at noon. It was cool and windy and I wished that I hadn't walked the course, my feet hurt. All this standing up at work is hard on my old feet. The Seafood King's daughter bugged out as planned, leaving the kids with him. In addition, he said that he has another daughter and her three kids living with him. That's five kids and one mom, plus Mr. and Mrs. Seafood King. I have to hand it to The Seafood King. He is a good man. Things in this blog represented to be fact, may or may not actually be true. The writer is frequently wrong, sometimes just full of it, but always judgmental and cranky

You are SUCH a busy guy these days! How do you find the time to prune roses AND play golf AND listen to white trash drama?

Dennis wonders if The Seafood King will have any Seafood left over?
