We did not get a single kid at our door last evening.  That is a new low and unless some kid sneaks up and leaves US candy next year, it will remain the record.

The demographics of our neighborhood makes for scant crowds of ghouls and goblins anyway, but trick-or-treating door-to-door seems just a dying tradition.   Too bad.

Does anyone else find it off-putting that crowds of Americans are cheering and waving flags at the news of the killing of bin Laden?   It seems eerily similar to the crowds that took to the Arab streets to cheer the events of September 11th.

Maybe it is just me.

In other positive news, bin Laden's death pushed the equally dead pope and the silly British royals off the news.

It will be all downhill for my roses from here on.  For now, they are doing very nicely.

The lovely Mrs. Sneed gave her notice at work yesterday.  Most people give 2 weeks notice, she gave 5 months.  September 30th is her last day.

Mrs. Sneed is concerned that sometime around the first of the year we will be living in a box under a bridge somewhere.  I guess that is a natural fear.

That quote attributed to Russell Long, could be updated to include not cutting any level of government spending these days.

Even though most people agree that the United States is borrowing its way to ruin, no one wants to have anything they benefit from cut or any tax raised.

Who would have guessed that?

This is life with Some Guy Named Bob.

We had a golf tee time this morning at 9:15.   Under ideal circumstances,  if the planets align correctly, if one allows for the Coriolis force and adjusts for the barometric pressure, Some Guy Named Bob will arrive at 9:18ish and hustle down the first fairway to catch us.

Absent those conditions, all bets on his whereabouts and arrival, are off.

, my favorite example of unbridled excess, is running a series of commercials in which they assert that no one ever wished for a smaller holiday gift.  The meaning evidently is, that only an idiot would ask for a three-piece adjustable wrench set, when he could have a Lexus.

If that was true, wouldn't people who want new cars for the holidays, wish for Mack trucks instead of a Lexus?

Ah, the irrational things we do for our pets.

This is the FURminator collection of deshedding tools for for dogs and cats.  The FURminator is designed to remove excess hair from your pet, rather than having it line every surface of your house.

Note the yellow one, it is the tool for large dogs, like our Lacey the Wonder Dog.
